AIQS Skill Assessment: Requirements, Eligibility, Documents & Pathways
Quantity surveyors throughout the world are attracted to Australia due to a strong construction industry and good work/life balance. The AIQS skill assessment is the necessary initial stage for skilled migration for this occupation. The AIQS assessment is conducted by the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS). They check that your education and work experience are at the right level for an Australian Quantity Surveyor (OSCA 241932). A pass in your AIQS skills assessment will help you to apply for visas such as 189, 190 or 491.
Can You Meet These Basic Criteria?
Quantity surveying is a highly specialised field , and most people require a university degree in quantity surveying, construction management or a related subject. You will also need some paid work experience in quantity surveying after your degree. You may get a faster AIQS assessment process if you are already a member of organisations such as RICS.
What options do I have?
There are five primary types of applications to apply for the AIQS skill assessment (including one option for new graduates) that are fully detailed below.
There is one option for holders of an AIQS-recognised Australian degree who have a minimum of one yearof work experience post graduation.
A second is for non-recognised Australian degrees, but having two years of post-degree working experience.
The third is for an overseas degree in the right discipline, plus 2 years of work.
Application 4 is for full members of the AIQS or allied bodies. They must have a degree and 1 year of work following membership.
Recent graduates with an approved Australian degree are said to be able to apply for a qualifications-only AIQS assessment without holding work experience.
